My last project at Playground Games was an emotional rollercoaster of incredible passion and insane challenge!
As Art Director, I had to figure out how to bring together two beloved brands, Forza and LEGO, into a visually appealing game.
Our amazing Art team really poured their passion into it every single day and I'm so proud of what we've achieved in merely 6 little months, from concept to finish!

It was crucial for me to capture the playful nature of LEGO and make it a core part of the experience: smashing your way through colourful plastic bricks, trees and flower contribute a lot to it!
The green LEGO baseplate is really iconic to me: it's the blank page, the promise that you're about to build something new.
We tried to be as accurate and authentic with the materials: here you can see how the light affect the stickers differently than the plastic bricks.
Light scatters through certain colours of LEGO elements under intense light, such as the sun.
Construction is an important part of the LEGO experience so we had to include it in some form. For the first time in Forza, you can build and expand your house!
The herds of sheep were really fun in the main game, so we brought them back with a twist: LEGO farm animals are made of a single plastic element, so they move just like you expect them to!
Spaceships! The LEGO Space theme has defined my childhood, and we HAD to bring a set into the game!
Smashing through piles of loose bricks in the "Super Mega Awesome Adventure Stunt Park" was a visual metaphor designed to remind of rattling through your own crate of LEGO, trying to find this one specific brick!
The LEGO-shaped clouds really help binding the sky with the ground, despite the presence of real world features.
The shape of the mountain was also designed to remind of LEGO shape language at far distance.
Making convincing headlights and tail lights was challenging, as we didn't want to compromise the integrity of LEGO elements. The light had to come from the element itself!
The city of Brickchester was incredibly challenging due to the insane amount of details present in the Creator Expert Modular Building sets!
The way dust lands on the car is a reminder of its actual scale.
